A PRODUÇÃO E INDUSTRIALIZAÇÃO DO CAFÉ DOS PRINCIPAIS PRODUTORES BRASILEIROS E A ECONOMIA NACIONAL: SIMULAÇÕES SOB UM MODELO INTER-REGIONAL DE INSUMO-PRODUTO AgEcon
Sakon, Fernando Malateaux; Guilhoto, Joaquim Jose Martins; Bliska, Flavia Maria De Mello; Imori, Denise; Camargo, Fernanda Sartori De.

Cordier, Mateo.
Mateo Cordier’s PhD addresses the interactions between the economic system and the ecosystem of the Seine estuary, an ecosystem deeply modified by human activities. His work aims at a holistic perspective and targets, among others, the destruction of nursery habitats and the subsequent impact on fish stocks in the Seine estuary. The hybrid input-output model developed in the PhD manuscript brings a quantitative insight on stakeholders and natural resources impacted by the modifications of ecosystem services (modifications caused by economic activities, political measures or restoration programs).

Multiplier impact of wine activity on inter-industry interactions AgEcon
Ciaschini, Maurizio; Socci, Claudio.
Wine is usually studied as a separate activity. Our attempt is to introduce it within the industries composing output that react to disposable income changes. We first harmonize the available data in a Social Accounting framework. From this data base we get the parameters of a multi-industry multi-sectoral model. We apply on the model a type of dispersion analysis based on singular value decompositions. The results show the position held by wine with respect to the other activities in relation to changes in the composition of disposable incomes. They confirm that wine, in a mediterranean country as Italy, is linked to lower disposable incomes.

SOME IMPACTS OF ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY (ADEQ) ENFORCEMENT IN THE DAIRY INDUSTRY IN MARICOPA COUNTY, ARIZONA AgEcon
Hemmer, Ronald.
Although water quality is a valid purpose for watershed projects under the PL83-566 Watershed Protection and Flood Prevention Act, historically very few water quality projects have ever been implemented in Arizona. This is largely due to the difficulty in measuring "non-controversial" monetary benefits associated with positive water quality impacts and to policy biased in favor of those projects with a higher monetary benefit-cost ratio. These reasons, among others, has prompted NRCS field economists to seek alternate methods to measure project benefits and costs. While the direct measurement of water quality benefits would be the preferable method to use, IMPLAN, through regional economic impact analysis, provides a way of measuring another category of...

THE HORSE SECTOR: DOES IT MATTER FOR AGRICULTURE? AgEcon
Johansson, Dag; Andersson, Hans.
EU policies focus ever more on rural development initiatives. The horse sector provides some opportunities. An I/O model is used to examine the aggregate effects of the horse sector on Swedish agriculture. The maximal potential of the sector accounts for around 12% of the total contribution to GDP by agriculture.

The Impact of Milk Quota Abolishment on Dutch Agriculture and Economy: Applying an Agricultural Sector Model Integrated Into a Mixed Input-Output Model AgEcon
Helming, John F.M.; Peerlings, Jack H.M..
A modelling system is presented and used to analyse the impact of milk quota abolishment on Dutch agriculture and economy. The modelling system consists of a regionalised, agri-environmental, partial equilibrium, mathematical programming model of agriculture supply in the Netherlands integrated into a mixed input-output model. It was found that abolition of the milk quota system has large impacts on milk production and livestock numbers and composition. The latter is explained by the strict mineral and manure policies in the Netherlands; an increase in the numbers of dairy cows leaves less room for other livestock. It is also found that, although the total effect on gross value added in the Dutch economy is limited, the effects for individual industries...

TRADITIONAL USES OF INPUT-OUTPUT MODELS IN WATERSHED PROGRAMS PLANNED UNDER PRINCIPLES AND GUIDELINES AgEcon
Sheets, Keith.
This paper outlines the traditional uses of input-output (I/O) modeling in watershed programs planned under federal "Principles and Guidelines." Generally, the national economic development costs and benefits are analyzed, and the I/O model is used to track on regional economic development impacts. These regional impact estimates have little impact in project selection, but provide a selling tool to develop local support for project funding and implementation.
